BENSALEM, Pa. >> A 13-year-old Bensalem boy died Friday night after crashing his Honda ATV at the intersection of Bensalem Boulevard and Jason Drive.
Gianni Forte drove the all-terrain vehicle without any lights on and was not wearing a helmet when he crashed into a passenger vehicle operated by a 60-year-old Bensalem man who suffered minor injuries in the incident, police said.
A 13-year-old passenger on Gianni’s ATV was rushed to Aria-Torresdale Hospital and then airlifted to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in critical conditional following the 5:45 p.m. crash. The ATV passenger was wearing a helmet, police said, adding speed and intoxication do not appear to be factors in the fatal collision.
The preliminary Bensalem Police investigation indicates Gianni was driving the ATV northbound on Bensalem Boulevard when he crashed into the passenger side of an oncoming vehicle that was attempting to make a left turn onto Jason Drive from the southbound lane of Bensalem Boulevard. The vehicle’s driver slowed down, signaled to make the left turn and started to make the turn when he did not observe any oncoming traffic, and that’s when the crash occurred, killing Gianni, police said.
Police on Saturday morning said the incident remains under investigation.
