CORNING – Christy Nicholas loves her career as an accountant with Corning Incorporated, but she’s found a new passion for words in recent years and has become a published author.

Nicholas recently penned her third novel in a historical fiction trilogy which will be published later this month.

Raised in an artistic family, Nicholas’ creativity was sparked by her first trip to the United Kingdom almost 20 years ago, and she has been back to the British Isles nine times since.

“I have always loved everything Irish and English,” Nicholas said. “I grew up as a celtophile. My mother listened to The Irish Rovers and told Irish fairy tales.”

Nicholas traces an Irish-American family from Ohio back to its history in Ireland by focusing on one family member in each book of her e-book trilogy, “Legacy of Hunger” (October 2015), “Legacy of Truth” (July 2016), and “Legacy of Luck” (Jan. 11, 2017).

The books are available on her website at

Nicholas started as a travel writer, keeping a journal after a trip to the U.K. in 2000. She wrote travelogues about her trips and shared photographs of what she found with friends and family.

“I was convinced to collect these travelogues in travel guides by a friend who is also a writer and book publisher,” Nicholas said.

Her guides to Scotland and Ireland were published in 2013 and 2014 by her friend’s Irish publishing company, Tirgearr Publishing, which also publishes her novels.

“Once the travel guides were published, I decided I would finally tackle my parents’ love story, which had to be told.”
