OSWEGO COUNTY – It’s never too early to plan for a vacation and Jan. 31, “National Plan for Vacation Day,” is a perfect time for workers to start thinking about how they’ll use their vacation time in 2017.

Andrew Mainville of Fulton hauled this lunker Chinook out of the Little Salmon River while camping at Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park last fall in Oswego County. Families planning their 2017 vacations can turn to www.visitoswegocounty.com for ideas on how to create special memories in Oswego County.

“In Oswego County we’re blessed with a wide variety of natural, cultural and historic resources that people can enjoy with their families,” said Dave Turner, Director of Community Development, Tourism and Planning. “From world-class fishing with top professional charter captains and guides, to exploring unique museums like Safe Haven in Oswego or the Underground Railroad Museum in Mexico, antiques shops, and golf, we truly offer something for all ages, interests and physical capabilities.”

Turner said the Oswego County Tourism website, at http://visitoswegocounty.com, is a great place to start, with comprehensive lists of attractions, fishing services, hiking trails, and visitor services for communities across the county.

“Visitors spent more than $135 million in Oswego County in 2015 and for good reason,” said Turner. “For those who live in or near our county, there is plenty to do right here in our own backyards.
