A naked Rincon man walking along Langston Chapel Road early Saturday morning was arrested after Bulloch County sheriff’s deputies responded to a call about a suspicious person.
Alonzo Emanuel Newson, 20, of Crooked Oaks Drive in Rincon, apparently caught the attention of people in the area, who reported him as suspicious, according to incident reports.
Deputy Jason Borne arrived at the scene near Talon’s Lake subdivision around 4:15 a.m. and saw that Deputy Ian Scruggs also had responded.
“Upon my arrival I saw Deputy Scruggs looking at a pile of clothes in the roadway,” he stated in reports.
Borne drove a short distance and saw Newson near Burkhalter Road. Newson was “completely naked … in the roadway, causally walking towards my patrol vehicle,” he said. “The male was not trying to conceal his genitals or his buttocks in any manner.”
Exiting his patrol car, Borne pulled his Taser and ordered Newson to the ground. Newson complied, and when the deputies handcuffed him, he “complained very loudly, ‘A snake is in my hair, he is all over me!’ ” Borne said.
Seeing there was no snake, deputies called for Bulloch County EMS to respond, as they felt Newson was suffering from an “altered mental status.”
Reports did not state any suspected causes of Newson’s mental state, and no intoxicants were found. However, deputies did find a marijuana grinder in a duffel bag Newson had abandoned in the roadway, Borne said.
After deputies retrieved some basketball shorts also found in the duffel bag, they placed them on Newson, and he was taken by EMS to East Georgia Regional Medical Center, where he was examined and evaluated…
