Dan Gilbert — the billionaire founder and chairman of Detroit-based Quicken Loans Inc. and Rock Ventures LLC, real estate mogul, sports team owner, philanthropist, Detroit booster and more — opens up about a wide range of topics in an interview over a drink at Wright & Co. downtown.
Gilbert talked to Hillary Sawchuk, a Chicago entrepreneur who attended Oakland University in Rochester Hills, as part of her “A Drink With” series.
The series is billed as “a one-of-a-kind web series that sits down with celebrities, artists, athletes and entrepreneurs over a drink and shares their inspiring success stories. We capture true personalities. Whether it’s a coffee or beer, our relaxed atmosphere allows our interview subjects to get comfortable and open up in thoughtful and unexpected ways.”
So in the Wright Kay Building — one of Gilbert’s 90-plus properties — the Detroit native and Michigan State University grad Gilbert talks about how he got started in business, his vision for Detroit and how much (little) he sleeps, as well as cooking, Up North, what keeps him up at night, quantum physics and more.
One interesting proclamation: “Detroit is going to be the capital of the world over the next 10-15 years.”
