William Waldo Dodge, a premier American silversmith, came to stay in the veterans hospital in Oteen after suffering gas poisoning in World War I. The tea strainer pictured here is one of four of his pieces on display at the Mountain Gateway Museum in Old Fort (828-668-9259) for its exhibit on the centennial of U.S. Entry into World War I.
