DELTA CHARTER TOWNSHIP – Burt Township Supervisor Harold Koviak will continue to serve on the Michigan Townships Association Board of Directors, after being re-elected to the position of District 5 director at the Association’s Annual Educational Conference and Expo, held April 10-13, at the Lansing Center.
As District 5 director, Koviak will represent township officials from Charlevoix, Cheboygan and Emmet Counties on the MTA Board.
Koviak began serving as township supervisor since 2002, after spending two years as trustee. He was the township zoning administrator for eight years prior to being elected to the township board. Koviak has been a Michigan High School Athletic Association basketball referee for nearly four decades, and has been awarded for his refereeing by the local community.
Among Koviak’s most rewarding experiences in township government have been improving township roads and community relations, working with the state Department of Natural Resources to improve township boat launches, and building a non-motorized trail, a project which has taken five years to get started.
“I enjoy working with all kinds of people to provide the best possible service to our taxpayers at a local level,” said Koviak.
