Governor Asa Hutchinson will be the keynote speaker for the annual Clark County Lincoln Day Dinner.

Governor Asa Hutchinson will be the keynote speaker for the annual Clark County Lincoln Day Dinner.
The event will be held on Tuesday, May 2, at Henderson State University’s Garrison Center Ballroom. A reception will be held at 5:30 p.m. with a dinner and program to follow at 6:30 p.m.
Governor Hutchinson was sworn in as the 46th Governor of Arkansas in 2015, promising to bring more jobs and economic growth to the State.
Since then, he has led trade missions to China to recruit foreign investment that led to Sun Paper Company agreeing to invest $1 billion to build a facility in Arkadelphia that will employ 250 people. He also visited Arkadelphia High School recently as part of a state tour to promote his computer science initiative. This initiative would improve computer science education in Arkansas with the goal of helping students compete for the one million unfilled jobs in that field by 2020.
In the most recent legislative session Gov. Hutchinson signed into law numerous proposals aimed at job creation and economic growth, including Act 165, which coupled with the state’s computer science initiative, will bring financial technology start-ups to the state. Hutchinson also signed two tax relief bills into law earlier this year. Act 78 reduces the tax burden on individuals who make below $21,000 annually and Act 141 exempts military retirement pay from the state income tax.
