Local artists to exhibit at Artexpo New York – News – The Walton Sun – Florida News

When the prestigious Artexpo New York opened April 21 at Pier 24 in New York City, four local South Walton artists had pieces of their artwork on exhibit there along with others from around the world.

Susan Lucas, Donnelle Clark, Dorothy Starbuck and Marisol Gullo were invited to join gallery-owner Dinett Hok’s exhibit at the fair.

Lucas and Starbuck both sent five pieces up with Hok, Gullow took six, and Clark sent three.

Lucas and Starbuck are both former Walton County Artists of the Year. Gullo currently holds that distinction.

Hok was a resident of Destin for many years and was familiar with the work of these four artists and asked them to join her in the exhibit. All were juried in. This is Hok’s second year to be juried in.

“It is a prestigious art fair and it is by selection,” said Hok.

The group had to send bios and images of their work to the organizers.

“We have a VIP premium space this year and I will be doing demos,” said Hok.

Artexpo New York is an annual fine-art destination that sees thousands of art industry insiders flocking to it in search of art and artists that will shape trends in galleries worldwide. The event claims to be the largest international gathering of qualified trade buyers, gallery owners and managers, art dealers, interior designers, architects, corporate art buyers, and art and framing retailers.

For 39 years, the juried expo brings the biggest publishers, galleries, and collectors face to face with hundreds of established and emerging artists, such as Andy Warhol.
