Students spend spring break on ‘once in a lifetime’ trip

A group of Arthur F. Smith Middle Magnet students spent spring break in Colorado this year.

Principal Norvella Williams said the “once in a lifetime” trip exposed students to experiences they wouldn’t have otherwise.

The school’s parent teacher organization, local attorney Tiffany Sanders and members of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity helped sponsor 25 students who were accompanied by eight chaperones, Williams said.

Besides getting to ski for the first time in Breckenridge, students visited the United States Olympic Training Center, Air Force Academy, the University of Colorado Boulder, the National Center of Atmospheric Research, Denver’s Museum of Nature and Science and the Denver Zoo and Aquarium.
