A welcome home party is being planned Monday night at Purdue Airport to greet World War II, Korean and Vietnam veterans taking part in the Greater Lafayette Honor Flight.
The plane, carrying the 16th mission for the Greater Lafayette Honor Flight, is expected to land at 8 p.m. Monday
The public is invited to gather at the gates of the airport tarmac, Airport Road and U.S. 231 in West Lafayette.
Honor Flights are one-day trips designed to take more than 80 veterans to see monuments dedicated to their service. Each veteran is accompanied by a guardian, often a family member. The flights started with a goal to get as many World War II veterans booked on an Honor Flight as possible. That since has branched out to include veterans of other wars.
In the past, hundreds of people have come to the airport to greet the flight.
