YMCA of Greater Montgomery ‘Charges’ into health – Alabama News

For two packed hours today, children throughout Montgomery will focus on health and fitness through activities at nine YMCA of Greater Montgomery branches.

“Charge Into Summer – Healthy Kid’s Day” is the nation’s largest day for children and families at more than 1,800 YMCA locations, and encourages families to “Charge Into Summer” during a free, activity-filled day that includes interactive games, engaging and creative family activities, and health giveaways to encourage adoptive behaviors that support a healthier lifestyle.

Through YMCA Healthy Kid’s Day, the YMCA helps families play more, embrace nutritious food choices, and build stronger connections within the family and with others.

“The challenge is that many families see healthy living as all or nothing,” said Gary Cobbs, CEO of the YMCA of Greater Montgomery. “Healthy lifestyle can seem overwhelming or out of reach. Through the YMCA Healthy Kid’s Day, we are helping families make small, sustainable changes in areas of eating better, getting exercise and connecting as a family to build a healthier and happier life.
