DeRidder dog park project needs sponsors – News – Beauregard Daily News – Beauregard, LA – Louisiana News

An area of grass with a few large trees, is slated to become the first community dog park in Beauregard Parish.

An area of grass with a few large trees, is slated to become the first community dog park in Beauregard Parish.

The city of DeRidder has donated three side-by-side lots on 8th Street for the placement of the dog park.

“All of it is going to be done with donations from the community,” said Misty Clanton, City Director of Community Service. The Beauregard Chamber of Commerce will be raising money for the park with a sponsorship campaign. “How far we can take it all depends on funding,” said Ashley Craddock, DeRidder Project Coordinator.

Within the campaign, there are varying levels of sponsorship. Each level coincides with signage for donors’ names or businesses. These range from dog tags on the fence, name and logos on the welcome sign or a bench, all the way to naming the park.

The team is hoping the dog park will have a positive impact on local residents, and potentially draw pet-related businesses, and travelers with dogs, to the area.

Lisa Adams, Chamber Vice President Executive Director, said, “The Chamber shares a common goal with DeRidder– to improve the overall quality-of-life in the city and parish.” The dog park is part of that goal.

The 30,000 square-foot area will be separated into two spaces; one for large breeds (over 25 pounds); the other for small dogs (under 25 pounds).

According to the Chamber’s proposal, the project will cost an estimated $39,114. Prices for all aspects of the park are as follows–
