ROCHESTER — A local woman, who shared her courageous battle with cancer with the community and helped to bring awareness of the disease, has died at the age of 36.
A post on the Moore Fight Moore Strong Facebook page shared the news of Jessica Noonan Moore’s passing Thursday.
Jessica, was diagnosed in April 2013 with metastatic breast cancer, a serious form of the disease that’s treatable, but not curable.
“As many of you have learned overnight Jess is no longer in any pain. She is and always will be a warrior. Moore Fight Moore Strong will continue to raise awareness for Metastatic Breast Cancer. Thank you to our MFMS army for all your continued love and support,” the post reads.
Shortly after the diagnosis, her closest friends and family set up the organization called Moore Fight, Moore Strong to support her with a signature fundraiser, the annual Moore Fight, Moore Strong Wiffle ball tournament.
Jessica grew up in Rollinsford, graduated from Somersworth High School where she was a stand-out athlete and played college basketball at the University of Southern Maine, where she earned a degree in nursing.
