Two families are displaced after their Chesapeake townhouses were damaged by fire early Friday morning, an official said.
Firefighters responded to the blaze in the 1200 block of Mill Lake Quarter shortly after 3 a.m., Capt. Scott Clifford said in a news release.
There, they saw heavy fire and smoke coming from the two townhouses, Clifford said.
Crews worked aggressively, and they were able to get the fire under control shortly before 4 a.m., he said.
Both homes have extensive fire damage, and a third residence has minor smoke damage, according to Clifford. No injuries were reported.
Two adults and two children have made arrangements for lodging, and the American Red Cross is assisting one adult, he said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
