Dakota honoring and benefit concert is May 24-27 in Mankato – Minnesota News

The following events will be held at New Creation World Outreach Church in North Mankato:

A benefit concert featuring Jonathan Maracle and the band Broken Walls will be held 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 24. Maracle and Broken Walls have toured in South and Central America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and extensively across North America. More information on the group is available at www.brokenwalls.com. There is no cost to attend, though a freewill offering will be taken at the concert to support the Dakota 38+2 Memorial ride to Mankato in December.

Yhe Dakota Honoring will begin 7 p.m. Thursday, May 25, with the ceremonial presentation of flags and drumming by the Flandreau Dakota Veterans Honor Guards, followed by a talk by Peter Lengkeek, the first staff carrier for the Dakota 38+2 Ride in 2005. On May 26-27 Dakota elders will share their stories and experiences
