The most successful companies are constantly evaluating how they are serving their customers based on their core beliefs.
The Don Ryan Center for Innovation is no different. What began as a simple business incubator sponsored by the town and Clemson University has grown into an economic catalyst for Bluffton and the region.
A significant event occurred recently when we merged the DRCI and the Bluffton Public Development Corporation into a single nonprofit now known as the Don Ryan Center for Innovation, Inc.
This new entity will foster and promote economic development in six general areas:
• Business incubation
• Business attraction, expansion and retention
• Co-working offerings
• Education and outreach
• Workforce development
• Business startup/concierge services
With the merger we have increased the staff by adding a full-time operations manager and a full-time vice president of economic development. But I hope you will be pleased to know that we did all of this while simultaneously recognizing a cost savings by merging the organizations.
We want to continue our creation of a vibrant entrepreneurial business climate within the region through economic development emphasizing organic, sustainable growth and enhance the economic vitality, diversity and dynamism of the region.
At its heart, economic development is about building healthy economies in order to have healthy communities. This is our goal in Bluffton.
