Louisville City FC agreed this week with defender/midfielder Sean Russell to mutually terminate his contract.
The 23-year-old Irishman was a new signing for Louisville City this past offseason but he didn’t make any appearances.
“He found it hard to settle here and requested a release,” Louisville City coach James O’Connor said. “It’s our understanding he’ll look for other opportunities closer to home. We wish Sean the best with his future and thank him for his time at Louisville City.”
With Russell gone, Louisville City’s squad is reduced to 20 players. It’s unclear whether O’Connor will look to fill his roster spot.
