Children from Boys and Girls Clubs across the Knoxville area gathered at the Haslam Family Club University on Friday to experience TryDI, an educational event designed by Destination Imagination to show kids in Knoxville the power of creativity and imagination.
Bart McFadden, President and CEO of the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley, explained that as many as 800 kids from 11 Boys and Girls Clubs in the Knoxville area attended the event, which he said offered them experiences that they would not have at home or at school.
“Destination Imagination brought this opportunity to us as part of the outreach that they were looking to do,” McFadden said.
“It really serves the purpose of what we strive to do in our clubs every day, which is to give them an experience that, if it weren’t for their involvement here, they wouldn’t have otherwise,” he added.
