One step closer to treatment plant – Alabama News

The Geraldine council is taking steps to start building the town’s first wastewater treatment facility after initially voting on the project in 2009. This week, the 2016-2020 governing body is closing on a $1.7 million loan from the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development.

Geraldine Mayor Chuck Ables said the Geraldine Town Council has been in the process of getting the project started for eight years as the council voted on Sep. 8, 2009 to proceed with the application with USDA Rural Development for the grant to build the wastewater treatment facility just inside the Geraldine town limits, which the town bought on Nov. 29, 2010.
