Ratcliff earns Corporate Ops award for helping test squadron – News – Ridgecrest Daily Independent – Ridgecrest, CA – California News

In recognition of his perseverance to obtain three additional enlisted search and rescue medical technician billets for Air Test and Evaluation Squadron (VX) 31, Rex Ratcliff, a Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division management analyst, received a Corporate Operations Award for Superior Achievement during a ceremony at China Lake on June 6.

Years ago when VX-31 identified an ongoing urgent need for additional SMT billets, Ratcliff began working with the squadron to gather billet requirements and supporting data. He went on to author a white paper detailing the need for the billets and possible results regarding flight crew safety to help move the initiative forward. After repeated efforts and denied funding, Ratcliff continued to find innovative ways to make sure the need was not overlooked. As a result, the billets have been approved for funding and assignment.

“For those of us who work in ‘enabling codes,’ sometimes it’s hard to see our day-to-day connection with the warfighter,” said Susie Raglin, director of NAWCWD Corporate Operations. “This is a perfect example because those three funded and assigned billets are going to help reduce the risk to our flight crew in the event of a mishap. It doesn’t get any more relevant than that.”
