Temperatures will only get warmer from here on out with highs in the mid to upper 80s today and 90s Father’s Day weekend. The jet stream is what drives our weather and separates warm air to the south from cool air to the north. We’ve been south of the jet stream since Tuesday and even the Pacific Northwest will be south of the jet by this weekend. The average high temperature is 82 degrees out at the Reno airport this time of year and we’ll be well above that for the next week. Thursday will be partly cloudy with more cloud cover north of I-80 and mostly sunny farther south. We have a lot of dry air to overcome, but luckily wind speeds will be light for the majority of the day. If we see any wind at all it will be in the afternoon between 4 and 7. Gusts will be in the teens mph for the majority of the day and twenties in the late afternoon. Temperatures could reach 100 degrees by early next week.
