A Brownwood police officer died in a two-vehicle accident in Brown County Wednesday evening.

Officer Bryan Greenrock, 42, was off-duty when the accident occurred about 6:30 p.m. on North U.S. Highway 183 near County Road 334.

His 11-year-old son suffered minor injuries, according to a news release from the Brownwood Police Department, and the driver of the second vehicle was flown to a Waco area hospital in serious condition.

Greenrock was born in Brownwood and has served with the Brownwood Police Department since Feb. 7, 2013. Previously he worked with the Coleman Police Department and Brown County Sheriff’s Office.

“It is a sad day for the Brownwood Police Department and the Brownwood community,” Police Chief Terry Nichols said. “We ask that you keep Officer Greenrock’s family and the Department family in your thoughts and prayers.”

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the accident.
