Scholars to Boys State must be Juniors in High School.  Legion Boys State is a practical learning experience in local and state government.  It’s citizens will apply knowledge already gained through their school experience and additional knowledge provided through instruction by competent individuals from selected governmental areas to organize and operate their own city, county, and state governments.

They will be encouraged, through participation, toward better civic behavior and appreciation of our democratic ideals.  It is in no way a military training camp. Programs will be considered without reference to any political party and be free from political propaganda.

The counselors at Boys State guide and teach, and then step back as the boys learn the process.  As the week progresses, campaigns and elections are run, with the boys actually participating.  Hence, they vote in their state government and conduct a mock session.  The delegates this year are Erik Jacobson (son of Chad and Kathryn Jacobson) and Jacob Wagner (son of Brent and Susan Wagner.
