New Gainesville superintendent has resigned

The Gainesville R-5 School District announced today that Dr. Aaron Hosman, who was hired in April as the new superintendent of schools, “unexpectedly resigned” Monday, June 12. Hosman, 60, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, was to start the job July 1, replacing Joe Donley, who resigned Feb. 20 after the school board voted 4-3 at its January meeting not to extend his two-year contract, which ran through the 2017-18 school year. A week later, Donley was hired as the superintendent of the Mark Twain School District, where longtime superintendent Don Yarger is retiring July 1.
