A Nesquehoning man stole from a borough store, court papers say.
Stephen M. Soldridge, 48, was charged with a count of retail theft and was released on $2,000 unsecured bail May 19 by Magisterial District Judge Casimir Kosciolek, Lansford. He later waived his right to a preliminary hearing.
Arrest papers state Soldridge took $2,023.90 in merchandise from Top Star Valero from April 14, 2016, through Jan. 16. When questioned by police he admitted to stealing from the store for a “couple months” about three times a week.
Police said among the items he took were sandwiches and candy.
Traffic stop yields
A Hazleton woman was found with marijuana during a state police initiative to seek out impaired drivers, court papers say.
Lilibeth Salcie, 30, faces possession of a small amount of marijuana and use or possession of drug paraphernalia by state police at Bloomsburg. The charges were filed May 31 and issued via summons, which was accepted June 7.
Arrest papers state a trooper assigned to Operation Nighthawk around 11 p.m. May 19 stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of Hillside Drive for a traffic violation and smelled marijuana inside. During a search of the vehicle, marijuana was found in Salcie’s purse, court papers state.
