The Prenuptial Project: Newly inspired to write ceremony that fits journey – Pennsylvania News

Brigid Edmunds and her fiance, Mikey Lawrence, will tie the knot May 25, 2018.

Through all of life’s journeys, I think it’s important not to compare ourselves to those around us.

Everyone is unique, and we are all on our own paths.

I bring this up because this past weekend, Mikey and I attended our first wedding since our engagement. It was an absolutely beautiful and perfect ceremony and reception, and watching two people so clearly in love get married is something that will always make me tear up. Obviously, sitting there knowing that I’m still in the planning stages of my own wedding, my mind starts to look toward the future to May 25, 2018.

Upon returning home, we were met with a lot of “did anything inspire you,” about our friend’s wedding, specifically the ceremony. Our friends chose to have a Catholic wedding ceremony, and it was one of the most beautiful ceremonies I have ever sat through. The priest was engaging, funny and completely genuine in his homily. I laughed, cried and was in awe of the ease with which this priest spoke of marriage.

The ceremony fit the couple to a T.

And it did inspire me. This weekend, I was inspired by so many things, mainly the love between the couple we were celebrating. I’m a hopeless romantic, and to see one of my friends beaming on her wedding day brings a sense of joy I can’t even describe.
