Demonstrators march through Briarcliff Manor to protest the Trump organization’s property tax challenge for the Trump National Golf Club
Tax Watch columnist David McKay Wilson followed the protest march Wednesday up to Trump National in Briarcliff Manor.
Protest marchers took to the tree-lined streets of Briarcliff Manor on President Donald J. Trump’s 71st birthday Wednesday, calling on the Town of Ossining to fight Trump National’s bid to cut in half the taxable value of its exclusive private club.
About 350 marched peacefully through downtown Briarcliff Manor and up Poplar Road to Dalmany Road, chanting “Pay your share!” They brandished all sorts of placards, assailing the man who bought a golf course on the decline, poured tens of millions of dollars into its revival, and for the past several years, has sought to lower the assessed value so the club’s property taxes would go down.
“Why does Donald duck his taxes?” read one sign. “You will pay more if Trump Golf Course pays less,” read another.
