A Royalton man and two boys were injured Thursday morning when the vehicle they were in collided with an abandoned, unoccupied GMC Jimmy on U.S. Highway 10.

Terrance Lee Gorecki, 42, was southbound on Highway 10. His Silverado could not avoid the abandoned vehicle in a southbound lane of Highway 10 just north of 105th Street Northwest in Watab Township, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The crash caused both vehicles to catch fire and pushed the Jimmy into the median.

Gorecki and two passengers were taken to St Cloud Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, the Patrol said. The passengers were identified as Gabe Terrance Gorecki, 13, and Will Richard Gorecki, 12, both of Royalton.

The accident was reported at 5:27 a.m. Benton County Sheriff’s Office, Rice Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance assisted at the scene.
