CHEBOYGAN COUNTY- Chris Brown, Cheboygan County Board of Commissioners chair, turned in his letter of resignation from the board Tuesday morning, announcing he will be leaving to take another government position.
“An opportunity I couldn’t pass up,” said Brown. “I will become the new village manager for the City of Pentwater, Michigan. I will be leaving the area in about two weeks.”
He turned in his letter of resignation to Cheboygan County Clerk Karen Brewster, which is effective June 25.
It was not an easy decision for Brown to make and he spent many hours of thoughtful consideration based on his recent appointment as chair of the board. However, opportunity doesn’t always present itself with a lot of advanced notice and he felt the move to Pentwater was the right choice to make for his career.
“It’s been a pleasure to serve with all of these fine members of the board and to serve the citizens of the county,” said Brown. “And also the staff, employees of the Cheboygan County Building. Thank you.”
Brown said in his letter it has been an honor and privilege to serve the residents of the county and he appreciates all of the support he has received from his constituents in District 1.
Cheboygan County has been his home for his entire life and he wishes all the success and best wishes to its citizens and the staff and elected officials who serve the county.
