A 36-year-old man was found dead in Desert Hot Springs Thursday morning and his death is being investigated as a homicide.
About 4:30 a.m., police were called to the 66-200 block of Pierson Street regarding a man lying on the ground, according to the Desert Hot Springs Police Department. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
He died from a gunshot to his upper body, according to police.
The investigator forced police to shut down Pierson between Palm and West drives. Many motorists had to make U-turns at the road closure before turning onto other streets.
Police cleared the scene was cleared by 11 a.m.
The killing was the third one to be investigated as a homicide this year in Desert Hot Springs. The previous two occurred at the end of March on Sixth Street.
Investigators determined the two were linked and the second one occurred in retaliation to the first.
