Food Not Bombs serves a meal each Sunday afternoon to needy persons at the Clarke Plaza. Living in a building across the street, I can easily observe the event for the past year. Until two weeks ago it has always been a joyful, peaceful gathering that is of short duration. One altercation, handled efficiently and briefly by the Eureka Police Department, should not end this kindness to the needy, By 4 p.m. the Clarke Plaza is always vacated of people and no litter or trash left behind.
Perhaps, if these United States sent tons of rice instead of tons of bombs to the Middle East from the Clintons to the present administrations, we would not be involved in this war with no end in sight.
