The Youth Council for Project 150, a local nonprofit that helps homeless high school students, will host a celebratory Scholarship Awards Luncheon on June 29 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Texas Station Gambling Hall & Hotel Conference Center.
Tickets cost $50 per person or $500 per table of 10. Scholarship sponsorships honoring families or companies also are available. The scholarship award levels range from $500 to $2,000 per student, and provide disadvantaged high school students an opportunity to attend a Nevada college, university or accredited vocational training institute.
“This is an exciting time for the students to finally reach that goal of graduating high school, and we want them to know the journey has just begun,” said Senia Roybal, Project 150’s youth programs manager. “We hope these scholarships empower them through their educational path for a brighter and successful future.”
During the luncheon, guests also can register for the 4th Annual Velasquez Memorial Scholarship Soccer Tournament hosted from Aug. 4-6 at Heritage Park in Henderson. The deadline to register for the tournament is July 17. The tournament is a scholarship fundraiser for homeless high school students served by Project 150 Youth Council. The event is organized in partnership with the Jimenez/Velasquez Family, Silver State Soccer League, Eliminators Soccer Club, and Las Vegas Valley Soccer League; presented in honor of Angel and Jackie Velasquez.
