‘Get Out and Play’ dates set at Gadsden parks – News – Gadsden Times – Alabama News

The City of Gadsden announced its schedule of outdoor games and activities for Parks and Recreation Month as part of their “Get Your Play On” campaign.

Gadsden Parks and Recreation staff will be in a different city park from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. each Saturday and Sunday in July. The staff will provide games like giant Jenga, a bean bag toss and ladder ball with summer toys like bubbles, hula hoops and jump ropes for children to play with.

The city plans to renovate several city parks, including Moragne Park. New playground equipment already has been installed at Dwight Park, Louis Street Park, Cherry Street Park and Hastings Park.

Gadsden Parks and Recreation also is encouraging residents to visit the city’s passive parks, which do not have playground equipment, but feature space for outdoor recreation and relaxation.

The Get Your Play On campaign is a branch of the National Recreation and Park Association’s annual Parks and Recreation Month. The NRPA encourages people to be active and involved in July, whether they visit parks on their own or participate in events put on by their local parks and recreation department.
