Live painting project on display at museum | Latitude 65 – Alaska News

The University of Alaska Museum of the North, 907 Yukon Drive, is hosting a live painting demonstration by UAF College of Liberal Arts Dean Todd Sherman to accompany the “Polar Passion” exhibit. Visitors are invited to watch the painting come to life in the museum lobby at 2 p.m. Friday. Viewers can also watch live broadcasts on the UAF CLA Facebook page.

The painting will be on display through the end of the year along with the “Polar Passion” exhibit, which contains select artworks collected by Grace Schaible. Schaible, a former UA regent and state attorney general, died earlier this month. Sherman agreed to create a painted polar landscape to give visitors the chance to share in a polar bear viewing experience.

Visitors are invited to take photos in front of the landscape and share them to social media with the hashtag #PolarPassion. For more information about the museum’s programs and events, visit the website at www.uaf.edu/museum or call 474-7505.
