SAFFORD — For its summer edition on June 20, the Safford Library’s ScienceCity program treated Gila Valley children to a show featuring the power of air.
Matt Ryan, of Brain STEM, a science education group from Tucson, came to inform and delight children from kindergarten through sixth grade. In two sessions, the children learned about the power of air and air pressure through such activities as riding a hover board, operating a “sneeze cannon” that shot water and shooting a ping pong ball from a PVC pipe.
“It was a lot of fun demonstrations,” said ScienceCity coordinator Lesley Talley, “so they were learning some basic concepts but also just laughing and having a great time.” Nearly 200 children turned out to enjoy the presentations.
