Special Olympics says, ‘Thank you,’ to local law enforcement | Local News Stories – Arizona News

SAFFORD — Safford and Thatcher Police departments, and Safford Fire Department, received an official thank you from Special Olympics Arizona for being a Top 10 community per capita when it comes to raising money for the Special Olympics program through the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run.

In 2016, the agencies raised $5,450. The agencies also presented Special Olympics Arizona with the proceeds from this year’s Torch Run, $3,468.

Following the Torch Run, the agencies provide a lunch for those with special needs, and a barbecue dinner is sold to residents in the community.

Supporting the run and barbecue dinner were: Pespi-Cola Bottling Company, Manor House, Walmart, Thriftee’s, Patriot Munitions and Graham County Cattle Women.
