Arrests made in suspected arson of an RV trailer on London Bridge Road | Local News Stories – Arizona News

Two Lake Havasu City residents were arrested following an RV trailer fire in the 3500 block of London Bridge Road early Wednesday evening.

A witness reported seeing a woman run from the RV with a red 5-gallon gas can before it was engulfed in flames. The witness also said he grabbed a cat that was in the side door of the RV and then attempted to use a fire extinguisher to fight the blaze, according to a press release from the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.

The woman was later identified to be Vanessa M. Byrd, 40, who lived in the trailer along with Mark A. Whitaker, 50, both Havasu residents.

The two had previously been reported by the property owner for trespassing and Whitaker was known to have a warrant out for his arrest.

Byrd was arrested on suspicion of arson of a structure, a felony, along with trespassing, a misdemeanor.

Whitaker was also arrested on suspicion of trespassing, a misdemeanor, along with a warrant issued by Lake Havasu City Justice Court.

The Lake Havasu City Fire Department responded to extinguish the fire. The damage is estimated to be about $5,000, according to the press release.
