CLIFTON — Arizona weather might be a lot of hot air right now, but the monsoons are coming and the Town of Clifton aims to be ready.
Town officials held a special meeting at Town Hall last week to plan for flood mitigation.
“This time each year, we ramp up reviews of our emergency procedures,” Town Manager Ian McGaughey said.
The meeting — which included public safety officials and department heads — reviewed the emergency operations plan, and the specific duties of each department in case of a flood event, including sandbag distribution.
“Residents living in designated flood-prone areas can pick up a limited number of sandbags at Town Hall when conditions warrant,” Town Clerk Esperanza Castaneda said.
Another part of the town’s safety plans that was discussed was the flood siren network.
