NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Jordan Kipper tossed 7 1/3 scoreless innings, leading the Norfolk Tides over the Louisville Bats in a 3-1 win on Thursday.
Logan Verrett got Adrian Nieto to fly out with runners on first and third to end the game for his fourth save of the season.
Kipper (3-4) picked up the win after he struck out four and walked two while allowing five hits.
Norfolk got on the board first in the third inning when Chris Johnson hit a two-run single.
After Norfolk added a run in the sixth on a double by Adam Brett Walker, the Bats cut into the deficit in the ninth inning when Alex Blandino hit an RBI single, bringing home Sebastian Elizalde.
Sal Romano (1-3) went eight innings, allowing three runs and six hits in the International League game. He also struck out one and walked one.
