SAFFORD — The hot streak of the Morenci-Clifton All Stars came to end Wednesday, when the team faced Pinal Mountain in the District 11 Majors (10-12) Tournament.
Morenci lost, 13-1, recording just one hit in the game.
Morenci-Clifton gave up seven runs in the first inning digging a hole the team just could not overcome.
“I think today’s game was an intimidation deal,” said Morenci-Clifton coach Pepe Saenz. “After the first half of the inning, Pinal started hitting the ball, our kids got down. We are a lot better team then that. It’s one of those games we want to forget about, come back tomorrow stronger and, hopefully, come out with a victory.”
In the second inning, Shawn Hudman hit a triple then scored, resulting in Morenci’s only hit and run of the night.
Pinal quickly answered back with a six-run second inning, giving Pinal Mountain a 12-run advantage.
