Train derailment in Phoenix causes traffic delays – Arizona News

A train derailment near 19th Avenue and McDowell Road in Phoenix on Thursday resulted in traffic delays.

There were no reported injuries, according to Phoenix police.

The derailment happened at a railroad crossing and left a boxcar hanging off the rails at a near 45-degree angle. It led to a shutdown of McDowell Road between 19th and 20th avenues.

Phoenix police said they responded to the incident at 9 a.m. and drivers should expect delays for at least the next 12 hours.

Police said there were no hazardous materials within any of the cars but did not disclose what was inside.
