ASSAULTS

A 22-year-old Gadsden woman reported she was assaulted Saturday morning at her residence in the 100 block of Gould Street. She told police her boyfriend’s mother was staying with the couple while going through a divorce. The woman’s 60-year-old estranged husband had been “continuing to make trouble,” she told police, and came to the residence, banging on the door about 6 a.m. Saturday. The estranged couple argued and, ultimately, the man punched the younger woman in the stomach and face, knowing that she’d had stomach surgery just two days prior. The woman was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

A 26-year-old Albertville woman told police she was visiting an apartment on South Fourth Street Friday and went outside to use her phone. She said she was approached by a man who pulled a pistol and struck her with his fists. She told police she tried to fight back and he struck her in the face with the pistol. She called her mother to come get her and did not seek medical attention until the next day, when she became concerned about swelling on her face and head and a severe headache.

When she went there, no one answered the door.
