PICO RIVERA >> Neighbors spotted three people leaving a home Monday and called deputies, leading to the arrest of three burglary suspects and the recovery of jewelry valued at about $3,000.
Los Angeles County sheriff’s Lt. Alex Villanueva said the Pico Rivera station received several calls at 10:34 a.m. about a burglary in progress in the 9000 block of Bradhurst Street. He said callers described three people who fled in a blue sedan.
He said the suspects had forced open a bedroom window to get inside the home, where they allegedly ransacked one bedroom.
Deputies saw the sedan nearby and followed it, Villanueva said. They pulled over the sedan at Rosemead Boulevard and Gallatin Road.
Deputies found a pillowcase containing jewelry worth about $3,000 inside the car, Villanueva said.
He said 21-year-old Meliah Harris of Compton, 24-year-old Carlyle Phillips and 19-year-old Anthony Rhodes were arrested on suspicion of burglary. Phillips and Rhodes live in the unincorporated county area near Los Angeles.
The suspects are being held at the Pico Rivera station with bail set at $50,000 bail each, according to Villanueva. They will be arraigned Wednesday at Downey Superior Court.
