Attalla All-Stars Heading to Dizzy Dean World Series – News – Gadsden Times – Alabama News

The Attalla 12-and-under All-Stars will travel to Southaven, Mississippi, to play in the Dizzy Dean Baseball 2017 World Series, which begins Saturday.

Head Coach Lance Freeman said the team has been undefeated in tournament play, and won the Alabama state championship.

“We went 4-0 in the district tournament in Attalla, 4-0 in the area tournament in Elkmont and 5-0 at the state tournament in Scottsboro,” he said.

This is the first year Attalla teams have participated in the Dizzy Dean program, and the 12-and-under team will compete with 19 other teams from 10 states at Snowden Grove Park.

Team members are Brayden Boatright, Brady Carver, Amarion Finch, Briggs Freeman, Caleb Freeman, Tyler Jones, Drew McBurnett, Andrew Moore, Thad Pearce, Andrew Pierce, Colton Smothers, Slade St. Clair and Trace Thompson. Assistant coaches are Jeremy Jones, Phillip Pierce and Bert St. Clair.
