Rattlesnake avoidance training

Equestrian Trails Inc. Corral 35 is offering rattlesnake avoidance training 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Equestrian Park, 1000 N. Glendora Mountain Road.

The cost of the training is $85 per dog.

Join Supervisor Solis at the pool

The YMCA of San Gabriel Valley is celebrating a successful summer swim program for youth and adults by inviting participants to enjoy a summer pool event with Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at Workman High School, 16303 E. Temple Ave.

Solis’s office funded the free program, which offers swim lessons for children ages 6 months to 17 years, as well as adults, throughout the summer.

Libraries distributing free lunches to youths

The Los Angeles County Library is offering free lunch to youths from noon to 1 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at 15 libraries this summer.

The program includes the Baldwin Park and La Puente libraries. There are no income requirements for families seeking lunch for children. The program is for ages up to 18 years old.

Lunches include items such as sandwiches, fruits, vegetables and healthy dairy products. No lunch will be served Aug. 3. Lunches are provided by the USDA Summer Food Service Program.
