Bay Club Courtside tennis team qualifies for nationals – The Mercury News – California News

A team from Bay Club Courtside won the Co-Ed NorCal Sectional Tennis Championships on July 21-23 in impressive fashion.
The squad won the finals 5-0 against Claremont Resort (Berkeley). The tournament was held at Laguna Creek Racquet Club in Elk Grove. Bay Club Courtside competed in the 18-under advanced division.
With the victory, the Bay Club Courtside team qualified for the United States Tennis Association national championships co-ed advanced division in Orlando, Fl. on Sept. 28-Oct. 1. The squad took fifth place last year.
In the final, Nitzan Ricklis (a Homestead High student) beat Willy Saiga 6-4, 6-0 in the boys singles match. In the girls singles match, Sarah Bahsoun (Los Gatos) defeated Angela Huang 6-4, 6-3.
Issa Yoshida (Westmont) and Nick Khamphilath (Independence) beat Josh Conlin and Wyatt Anderson 6-1, 6-1 in the boys doubles match. In the girls doubles match, Stephanie Ren (Saratoga) and Monica Stratakos (Saratoga) defeated Casey Cummings and Cali Fuller 0-6, 6-4, 10-6. Ren and Stratakos came back for the victory after falling behind 6-0, 2-0.
In the mixed doubles match, Ricklis and Bahsoun beat Collins and Fuller 6-5 (6), 6-1.
Dasee Carter (Saratoga) was 2-0 in mixed doubles matches in the tournament. Alena Pruett (Mountain View) was 2-0 in girls doubles matches in the tourney. Dean Stratakos (Saratoga) was 3-0 in singles, doubles and mixed doubles matches.
Bay Club Courtside defeated Claremont 60-25 (total games won), and were victorious by the same score against Laguna Creek. Bay Club Courtside also beat Los Gatos Tennis Academy 60-6 and McLaren Park (San Francisco) 59-16.
