Dunkin’ Donuts, famed for its hot coffee, has a new pick-me-up.
It’s called Dunkin’ Energy Punch Powered By Monster Energy, the signature product of Corona’s Monster Beverage Corp.
The cold drinks were launched in March as slushes in the Northeast and Florida, but now they’re available here. Dunkin’ Donuts describes them as one 16-ounce can of Monster Energy mixed with Strawberry and Blue Raspberry flavors and served over ice.
The colors are different, vibrant red and blue, but the taste of both is basically Monster Energy.
Riverside’s Dunkin’ Donuts, 4922 La Sierra Ave., is selling 32-ounce cups of the punch for $4.29.
Sixteen ounces of Monster Energy has about 160 mg of caffeine, according to a nutrition chart from the Center for Science in the Public Interest. By comparison, a 14-ounce cup of Dunkin’ Donuts coffee has 210 mg.
But there are also calories to consider. Dunkin’ Energy Punch has 390, more than some of its doughnuts.
The chain is also selling punch fueled with NOS, another Monster Beverage brand, in select markets.
Dunkin’ Brands, the parent company of Dunkin’ Donuts and the Baskin-Robbins ice cream chain, recently selected Parag Patel, franchisee of the Riverside store, as its Developer of the Year.
Patel is a Yorba Linda resident. He and his family own more than 20 Dunkin’ Donuts and Baskin-Robbins restaurants in California and Maryland.
When Patel opened the Riverside store in 2016, it was the chain’s 12,000th worldwide.
