SAN JOSE — California Highway Patrol officers on Monday arrested a 25-year-old San Pablo woman after she was found asleep behind the wheel of her car on northbound Highway 17 with her 2-month-old daughter “panting” in the passenger seat next to her.
A Freeway Service Patrol tow truck driver made the discovery at about 4:40 p.m. on the right shoulder of the highway south of Interstate 280. It was over 90 degrees at the time, according to the CHP.
The CHP said the baby was belted and asleep on the front passenger seat. She also was panting.
Santa Clara County firefighters treated the infant at the scene and took her to Valley Medical Center for additional care and observation. She was in stable condition and “doing well” Monday night, according to the CHP.
The mother — identified as Adrianna Rolling — was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, obstructing a peace officer in the performance of their duties and child endangerment.
