Jury selection got underway Monday in Torrance Superior Court for the murder trial of a Redondo Beach man charged with fatally stabbing his girlfriend, a reality television show lawyer.
Potential jurors assigned to Judge Mark Arnold’s courtroom were asked to fill out questionnaires and return Wednesday, when individual questioning will begin.
Robert Brian Reagan, 53, is accused of stabbing his wife, Loredana Nesci, on July 22, 2015, at their house in the 1900 block of Nelson Avenue. The couple’s 5-year-old son, Rocco, was home at the time.
An autopsy revealed Nesci, 47, was stabbed four times in the abdomen with a “Rambo-style” knife between her breasts and belly button.
Nesci starred in the SundanceTV series, “Loredana, Esq.,” which documented her home life and career as an attorney in Redondo Beach’s Riviera Village.
Reagan, who faces 26 years to life in prison if convicted as charged, claims self-defense. His defense attorney, Shepard Kopp, released a statement following Reagan’s arrest that said Nesci, a former Los Angeles police officer and body builder, attacked Reagan with a hunting knife during a domestic dispute. Kopp said Nesci was stabbed as Reagan tried to disarm her.
